So...I'm proving to be kind of terrible at updating this blog whilst I'm recording here in beautiful San Francisco. Joey and his family have been so wonderful. I wake up every day wondering how the hell I got so lucky. We're on day 6 of 7 today, things starting to wrap up. I can't believe how 15-hour days can fly by so fast.
I'm learning so much from Joey. I've recorded dozens of times before, but never somewhere like this. Joey continuously challenges me to get the best out of each take. We co-wrote a song together a few days ago. I wrote a song with Joey Cape. That happened. It's just an incredible experience.
Haven't had much time to do anything but record. I was able to sneak out a few hours to see he Packers win on Sunday which was fantastic. Even got to see former My Brother Stole My Records recording artist Kev Z. and my all-time biggest supporter Kul-Aid for the game. Got to see the famous Motor Studios. Have a lunch this week with Fat Wreck Chords. And in LA we're staying in a mansion. Just total craziness.
Had plenty of Anchor Steam, a few slices of sourdough bread, walked up crazy hills, and saw a little fog. I've yet to see a trolley, the golden gate, or redwoods...but this is a work trip, not vacation.
More than anything, I'm honored to be one of the original One Week Records recording artists. The stuff that came before me is all fantastic, and just wait until you hear who Joey has coming to the studio next. I'm in great company.
Okay, it sounds like it's time for some more vocals. Gotta run. Miss you, Wisco! Be home soon!
PS! I have a show on the 24th now at an old monastery in Appleton, located in the graveyard along the Fox River. It'll be my first show as an international superstar famous asshole, so I hope you'll consider coming. Don't forget to follow my Instagram for daily pics and stuff while I'm out here. And you should follow One Week Records on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
